Its mission-critical distribution operations ran on 300+ VMs across four bare-metal VMware VCF servers, secured by PAM, SIEM, firewalls, and Veeam backup, the infrastructure keeping regional supply chains moving every day.
A business-critical platform had become a business-critical risk
Escalating VMware licensing costs, shrinking vendor support, and mounting uncertainty following the Broadcom acquisition turned Redington's core infrastructure dependency into a board-level financial and operational risk. The locked-in legacy stack blocked any path to cloud, AI, ML, or modern security adoption. Compounding the risk: a single-vendor, single-data-center disaster recovery model left a structural single point of failure, where one outage or one failed backup could have meant unrecoverable data and a halted distribution operation spanning 38 markets. - Zero-Compute DR tier: Nutanix Multicloud Snapshot Technology with NC2 hibernation retains recoverable data in Amazon S3, activating compute only when required, delivering near-zero RPO/RTO without paying for always-on standby.
